MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State was celebrated for his outstanding contributions to primary healthcare services in a ceremony on Sunday evening.
The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) presented the award to the governor at the Government House in Maiduguri.
The honor recognizes Zulum’s exceptional dedication to improving primary healthcare services across Borno State.
The NPHCDA’s coordinator, Dr. Faisal Shu’sub, who presented the award, praised the governor’s achievements in the healthcare sector.
“⅝This award of excellence is in recognition of your exceptional commitment to improving primary healthcare services in Borno State. We are very confident that Borno will be a template in terms of the transformation of the Primary Healthcare,” Dr. Faisal said.
Dr. Faisal also commended the governor’s outstanding dedication to promoting immunizations and other essential Primary Health Care (PHC) services across Borno State.
During the ceremony, Dr. Faisal presented a compendium to Governor Zulum. This collection of pictures showcases the Borno State Government’s efforts in eradicating polio in Nigeria.
In May of this year, Borno was recognized as the overall best-performing state in primary healthcare service delivery. It also won in the best-performing zonal awards category for the northeast.
Governor Zulum expressed his gratitude to the NPHCDA for the recognition after receiving the award. He emphasized that such recognition is a call to do more and pledged his ongoing commitment to provide quality and affordable healthcare services to the people of Borno.
